I have a lot of stuff that's finished or about finished, and I wanted to see what you guys would like to see more of D:

Usually I don't mind what other people do or what they're into as long as no one's getting hurt.
Every where I go there's something related to Twilight, from bags and posters to food products, it's hard to imagine it escalating any futher.

I wandered into a small grocery store that I frequent whenever I go on a walk. It's an all organic store and it's owner and employees are very proud of their products and fair trade Coffee. Recently they had started selling Twilight food products. I was a little surprised at first, but after a week or so they added more. So I finally asked the checkout girl what she thought of all of the Twilight hype, I asked politely. My exact words were "So, what do you guys think of all this Twilight stuff?" She was ringing up my purchases and said that she, and the entire staff LOVED Twilight, that it was just a GREAT series. She said something about romance and 'awesome', then she asked 'Did you readTwilight?' She had this weird glint in her eyes and looked really defensive, you know like when a girl you sort of know asks you about a guy she likes and she thinks you're trying to steal him away by telling him where the bathrooms are? It was that look.

Ever since I started buying incense and candy from their store in high school I have never seen her look like that. She's always been pleasant and open minded.

Now if any of you know me well enough, you'll know that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to be subtle, every thing I say comes out wrong and rude especially when I'm trying to be nice D:

So I said 'I tried out the books but just couldn't get hooked.' and then she looked sort of scary, before she was definitely intimidating, but now she had gone past the passive aggressive question face to the eye clawing face. It was not a nice face.

She goes 'Wow really? It's such a great series, I bet you saw the movie though.'

So I decide that I shouldn't ask about it unless I'm wearing sturdy shoes and said 'Oh, I saw the movie, the lighting was great and I loved the hair and makeup, but I think it moved too fast. It could have been a lot better if they spent more time on it. But I'm going to see the next one because werewolves are my favorite.' (so lame I know, but I was grasping for straws. That's the ONLY thing I could like about the movie)
She was less scary and gave me my groceries and agreed with me while gushing about the movies, but made a face at the werewolf comment. And then I escaped. D:


What I've been trying to figure out is WHY people like it that much. I know that it's the kind of stuff that teen girls would read and like, especially the really young ones. But usually after you read something like that you forget about it.

But everyone seems obsessed with Edward and Bella, people who read
normal books, people who thought Harry Potter was too immature for them. What really freaks me out is that people say that the Ed and Bella couple is the ideal couple. And that Bella is a strong female character, and that edward is the ideal boyfriend/husband etc.

First, I've leafed through all the books, and actually READ a good portion. Their whole relationship is seriously screwed up.
It's not love, it's not even a real relationship. It's just lust.
Creepy, obsessive lust. Not the usual kind D:

All of the characters are so shallow and selfish. Bella is supposed to be the perfect girl but she's a complete bitch to everyone and she never. stops. whining. In the books, the other girls at her school are written out to be bitches if they get mad at Bella for stringing along their boyfriends, or if they want her to stop moping and depressing them.
And she's terrible to her father, it's like he's a bad person for not wanting her to have boys in her room all night. What a monster e_e

I keep hearing that the book has 'good moral values' and that Bella is a good role model (even though she's FICTIONAL.)

- Withholding sex unless someone marries you and has your monster child is not the same as abstaining or giving someone a 'romise ring'. It's using it as a weapon, which is very wrong and abusive. D:

- Whenever Bella 'stands up for herself' she's really just whining or asking someone to think for her.

- Constantly telling someone you'll kill yourself if they ever leave you for any period of time is not true love. It's having severe abandonment issues and highlights a serious lack of trust in their relationship.

It's hard to write this without giving in to the urge to write 'I hate twilight' over and over in caps.


But I think you get the point.



One more thing about twilight that creeps me out more than angers me is how often Edwards body is mentioned. Bella was introduced with 'not fat but has curves in all the right places and has pretty pale skin and giant eyes' but, seriously EVERY OTHER LINE on any given page is about how 'beautiful' Edward is. The whole first book is pretty much this: Edward has pretty pretty ice cold white, marble skin.' I don't know about you but that doesn't sound sexy to me.

Did I tell you that there is now twilight Body spray? Doesn't sound too weird right? Well what if it was supposed to smell like the characters.
... Yes, Edward scented body spray. I believe that is creepy and wrong and Nothing can change my mind D:
And the Jacob spray apparently smells like dirt and musk.

I'm very sensitive to how Native Americans are portrayed in the media (as well as other minorities that I fit into) and when the whole book is talking about Edwards skin and how it's sooo much prettier than Jacob's 'russet' skin. Russet, as in the potato. It gets kinda weird and a tad offensive.



I have a bad habit of having to know 'why'. Usually I can pick it up on my own, but I don't want to read into any more Twilight than I already have. I don't want to waste energy ragging on it either, If any of you guys had figured out just WHAT the appeal of this series is, please tell me so I can forget about Twilight D:

I'm sorry I've been away from DA (and other online places) I've had a TON of personal stuff going on for months and months that was way more uh, draining and depressing than I had anticipated. The majority of it's solved now though.

What She Does – cross stitching.
I don't really know what cross stitching is, I'm assuming it's where theres this fabric stretched over some kind of frame and you stitch pictures or words, like 'Home Sweet Home' and then put lace around the edge and hang it in the kitchen. Whatever it is, ZR's good at it, the rest of her gallery is cartoon sketches and pictures of her family.
